KFC Responsive Ordering Site

 

Project Overview

KFC aimed to transform its online delivery experience to better serve users accessing the platform through various devices. The mission was to create a more intuitive, user-friendly, and visually appealing responsive website that would enhance the ordering process for customers.

 

My Role

As a UI/UX designer on the project, I worked closely with the Product Manager, front-end developers, and a team of data analysts. My responsibilities included designing and iterating a brand-new user interface, developing user flows, and continuously improving the user experience throughout the project.

 

Design Challenge

The key challenge was to create a seamless and efficient ordering experience while accommodating the diverse range of devices users would access the website from. The design also needed to align with KFC’s brand identity while integrating new features to modernize the online delivery process.

 

Design Process

  • Collaboration: I collaborated with cross-functional team members to align on project goals and user expectations.
  • User Interface Design: I crafted a fresh and cohesive UI that maintained KFC’s brand consistency while modernizing the look and feel of the delivery site.
  • User Flow Improvement: I redesigned the ordering process to reduce friction and make navigation intuitive, so users could easily customize and complete their orders.
  • Data Driven Iteration: I worked with data analysts to identify areas of improvement and used data insights to refine the user experience incrementally.

 

Key Features and Design Decisions

  • Responsive Layout: Created a design that adapts seamlessly to various devices, from smartphones to desktops.
  • Streamlined Ordering Process: Simplified the menu navigation and checkout flow, reducing the number of clicks required to complete an order.
  • Personalization Elements: Integrated options for saving favorite meals and quick reordering based on past orders.
  • Visual Appeal: Applied bold visuals and easy-to-read typography that align with the KFC brand.

 

Outcome

The redesigned responsive website significantly improved the user experience, leading to smoother navigation and faster ordering times. Stakeholders praised the design’s modern aesthetic and practical functionality, and user engagement saw measurable improvements post-launch.

 

Reflection

This project taught me the value of collaborative, data-informed design. Working alongside developers and data analysts helped ensure that the final product was both visually appealing and highly functional. The positive feedback received from both the team and end users.
